Concept Mobile Phone Bags UK Student Top Design Award
Sponsored linkA De Montfort University (DMU) student in the UK has snatched the top plum in the yearly D&AD Student Awards for his concept mobile phone designed for Orange. Chi Shing Lo, a sophomore lad originally from Hong Kong, added yet another feather to his cap by winning his second major competition for 2008. Early this year, Shing dominated the national RNID competition for designing up-to-the-minute earplugs for the hearing protection of nightclub goers.
Shing’s winning concept mobile phone design included a charging point that uses the inductive charging technology for data transfer, as well as a hole to function as a view finder when taking pictures. Al Young, Chairman of D&AD gave his compliments claiming Shing’s work, together with the other entries, to be the best quality of work he has ever seen. Now on its 30th year, the D&AD Student Awards aims to give recognition to college and university students around the world for excellence in both design and advertising.
Shing’s masterpiece can be seen, along with other students’ work, when the D&AD Student Annual gets launched at the London Design Festival on September 18.
