The biggest mobile-phone operator in India recently announced that they will offer the second-generation iPhone from Apple Inc. this August 22. Bharti Airtel Ltd. also said that the launching of the 3G iPhone in India is part of the 70-county rollout of the device which offers faster web access in a cheaper price.
According to the email sent by the mobile phone company based in New Delhi, the iPhone 3G will be available in their customer service outlets. However, Bharti Airtel Ltd. did not mention any specific pricing details with regards to the data plans of the 3G iPhone.
The Bharti Airtel Ltd. is trying to introduce the second-generation iPhone in India before itsrival, Vodafone Group Plc does. Apple did not make an exclusive deal with the Bharti Airtel Ltd. and chose the Vodafone Group Plc to distribute the second-generation iPhone in this huge wireless market as well.
Nevertheless, the sales of the 3G iPhone in the country may still experience some delays and lag behind the sales made by the device in other nations. Not just because Bharti Airtel Ltd. is a month behind from the debut in UK, USA, and Japan. It is also because the third-generation networks in India still need more work. The speed is not yet enough to offer its users the fast web access and downloading that they expect from the 3G iPhone.
