Sony Ericsson W580 Review - Feel the Style
Sponsored linkThe Sony Ericsson W580 walkman phone has been designed for the generation which eats, drinks and sleeps music. The slim slider phone is 14 millimetre thick and comes in modest white and grey colours. Although its designs somewhat matches to the W880 but it has distinctive features to offer. One of them is its curved body section at the bottom of the device that caused the Fast Port power/headset jack to be moved up to the side of the device. The Portable Speakers MPS-70 and Snap-on Speakers MPS-75 - makes the W580 a true music phone. This quad-band GSM/EDGE handset stores up to 470 full-length tracks, has a 2.0 megapixel fixed focus camera tucked discretely within the slider itself, plus stacks of gaming, sports and entertainment features. When connected to the personal computer a USB cable, which comes along the phone, will enable you to use the phone as a mass storage device.
And for those who love their radio and prefer to listen information and music on FM the W580 also sports an RDS compatible FM radio. And for those who can’t have their morning workouts and jogging without the walkman listen to this– with the Sony Ericsson W580 Walkman phone you can even take your favourite tracks to the track as it will count your steps, your calories and monitor your running speed/distance/time. Other features of note in the W580 include the 2″ 262k color display and the W580’s built-in Bluetooth stereo support which will allow it to supply tunes to a pair of wireless headphones - not included. Also the Bluetooth Music Receiver MBR-100 lets you play your phone music directly through a home stereo. The user can use his W580 as the remote control to skip through tracks and adjust the volume. Talking about the software the W580 sports a full RSS news feed reader, 3D Java games, and the Track ID application that lets users identify songs by simply holding their phone up to an audio source - like a car stereo speaker. Don’t forget the phone also features special light effects if you navigate to the walkman player the lights automatically change to glowing orange colour. Now that’s called special effect. Well music is not the only thing that will save you from getting bored while travelling, the W580 offers fast action 3D Gaming (with hit titles preloaded). And as it is the slider phone it has a large 2.0 inches colour screen which gives you perfect display when you are playing games, browsing web or viewing your photos. The phone weighs only 94 grams making it easy and comfortable to carry in pocket when you are listening to music. As we have said earlier the bottom of the phone is curved but it still looks rectangular when it’s in closed position. Sliding the phone open reveals the alphanumeric keys when open although it looks little unusual that way but it’s not that bad counting its plus points.
Now let’s analyse the control buttons given on the side of the phones. The right side of the phone has a fast port connector for a change but the on-off button is at the top as usual. But the way it is fitted in the phone it can’t be pressed accidentally. You will find volume rocker on the left side of the sliding front. There are Light effects LEDs along the dividing line of the slides which emit blinking light in five different colours to signal an incoming call. The colour of the blinking lights can be adjusted as per the user’s choice but not the pace of the blinking. Don’t be greedy guys!
