Android Market Announced for Android OS Applications
Sponsored linkGoogle has unveiled Android Market for the first time, which is an open content distribution system for Android OS users. When available, you can find, purchase, download and install various types of content directly on your Android devices. Feedback and rating system will be created too.
Similar to the iPhone App store, the Android Market will combines both free and paid applications. The first available version of Android Market in the upcoming Android phones will contain free applications. Paid Android applications will be available after the initial launches via an software update. No words on profit sharing detail between the Android developers and Google at the mean time.
According to the blog post
Developers can expect the first handsets to be enabled with a beta version of Android Market. Some decisions are still being made, but at a minimum you can expect support for free (unpaid) applications. Soon after launch an update will be provided that supports download of paid content and more features such as versioning, multiple device profile support, analytics, etc. Below are some screenshots that illustrate some of the security features and workflow.
